There are many people who must be given credit for transforming the one-course department of engineering into the college it is now, and one of these key individuals is Norman O. Gunderson, the first dean of the college.

The SJSU student chapter of the Society for Automotive Engineers International (SAEI) was the People's Choice 1st-place winner for their BE U.NITED idea at the SJSU Neat Ideas Fair.

Dr. Guna Selvaduray, Associate Dean of Research and professor in the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department, has received the International Microelectronics And Packaging Society (IMAPS) Outstanding Educator Award for 2008. Dr. Selvaduray received his award in November at the IMAPS 2008 41st International Symposium on Microelectronics in Providence, Rhode Island.

During these turbulent economic times, it is especially good news to hear that companies and individuals continue to provide moral and economic support to higher education and its deserving students. The Davidson College of Engineering has been befriended by many corporate and individual donors, alumni and friends of the university, who have generously sponsored engineering scholarships for high-achieving students.

Watch out Detroit! Here comes the SJSU's ZEM vehicle. A team of Davidson College of Engineering students and faculty have designed the first vehicle powered by human, battery, and solar energy.
