SUMMARY OF TRIP

Immediately after arriving in Taipei, the GTI Scholars boarded a bus and headed to their first destination; Nuclear Power Plant #2. Once there, they were given a tour of the entire facility, and were astonished to be led into the central core of the facility where they viewed the actual nuclear reactor through the reactor pool. This site visit amazed everyone considering that it would be near to impossible to take a tour of a nuclear reactor facility in the United States.

At Hsinchu Science Park they had the opportunity to visit Quanta Display, one of the leading Liquid Crystal Display manufacturing companies in Taiwan. They learned about Quanta’s place in the supply chain and how they make LCD’s for many companies.

On their final day in Taipei, scholars had the opportunity to visit the tallest building in the world, Taipei 101, while they stared in awe at its enormous height.
