SUMMARY OF PROGRAM
The 2006 program sponsored by the Initiative sent twenty-six top SJSU students and three faculty members on a two-week, all-expense-paid study tour of Taiwan and China from May 28 through June 11, 2006. Components of the GTI initiative included pre-trip acculturation and post-trip dissemination of lessons learned. The study tour featured three themes: Global Economy, Sustainable Development, and Social Responsibility of Global Businesses and Citizens
Cities visited include Taipei, Hsinchu, Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai. Provost Carmen Sigler led the delegation. The other two faculty members in attendance were Professor Fred Barez, Chair of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Professor Jacob Tsao of Industrial and Systems Engineering, who was also the faculty lead of the study tour. Dean Belle Wei participated in the Shanghai portion of the study tour.
